Most efficient in separating water from Acetic Acid Sulzer GTC combines Liquid-Liquid Extraction (LLE) and Azeotropic Distillation (AZE) in the PTA Dehydration section and by doing so takes advantage of both processes. The feed runs partially into the LLE where water is rejected to the bottom and the extract is sent to be treated in the AZE along with the rest of the feed to significantly ease the loading of the AZE section. GTC’s patented LLE process can be easily added to the AZE and work as combined system for the instant optimum performance. Sulzer GTC offers both the LLE-AZE combined system and the standalone AZE system, as well as a revamp of current AZE systems by adding the LLE.
