Alok Saxena – Managing Director/Sulzer GTC India, Ashish Kumar Shah – Technology Process Manager/Sulzer GTC India, and Konstantin Churkin – Licensing Sales Engineer/Sulzer GTC Russia recently concluded a successful performance guarantee test run (PGTR) at LUKOIL, Perm Krai, Russia, for their GT-BTX unit, after a new Heavy Hydrocarbon Removal System was installed.

Testing indicates that the unit’s performance has exceeded all performance parameters since commissioning. For GTC, this project represents an outstanding example of applying a technology to solve an issue in an aromatics extraction unit, where the feedstock contains heavy components that can affect the operation and performances of the GT-BTX unit.  The results at Lukoil were confirmed after the first few days of operation, with an immediate reduction of heavy hydrocarbons accumulated in the solvent loop. This success validates the use of GT-BTX technology with a wider variety of feedstocks. Also, the performance of the unit confirmed the perfect operation of the LLE extraction column for removing the solvent from raffinate, designed with the help of PET group, and installed for the first time in this application.
